For the past few weeks the year 6’s have been learning about Social Justice. Each class has made a blog and we are madly working Away at them to provide each other with what we know about Social Justice. On our blogs we are responding to bible passages.
When I went to the age care facility I thought it would just be just a bunch of old people which just want to tell you a bunch of random things and a smelly place. When I actually went into there I was right about the smell but the people were just lovely. The first person I went to she was just absolutely lovely and friendly she didn't talk much at the start but as she got to know me she started talking more and we became good friends. I met two more groups and they were as lovely as the first lady.
10When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. 12Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.” 13He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14(About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. My response to that passageHow does the passage relate to your actions of community service?
Jesus broke up the food then gave it to the twelve disciples, then the disciples gave the left over food to the five thousand people. This act reminds me of the soup truck because they also give food to the people, but the people that the give food to are homeless. “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,f you did it to me.’ My response To That ParableHow does the passage relate to your actions of community service?
It relates because in our inquiry we are helping people who are not as fortunate than us. When you are helping people you are helping god, when you give someone food/drink you give god food/drink and when you give someone clothes you are giving god clothes. No matter who you are helping |
