It's just amazing that there are so many people in one community offering to help out others. The people in this video go out there way to give people a hand and assist in giving them a nice dinner. As the people say in the video there not just there for a good meal everyone enjoys the time and finds it as a great way to socialize. I hope that this community kitchen continues for more years to come and progresses to become better and gain more volunteers.
What I took out of this bible story, was that even when there was barely enough to feed himself and his disciples he still fed the 5000 people without expecting anything back. This action is similar to the actions of what the rotary club in and other organizations do like a community kitchen or a soup van.
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
10When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. 12Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.” 13He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14(About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. This bible scripture relates to community service because when the person saw a need he did it without expecting something back in return. For example if you saw a man lying in the gutter absolutely helpless most people would walk past him carelessly, but if you put Jesus' face on the man you instantly want to help him without expecting a reward. Imagine everyone has the face of Jesus and help them in tough time. Eventually if you keep at helping people you will not need to put the face of Jesus on people because by then you will know what the right thing to do is and what the
How does the following passage relate to your actions of community service.
Matthew 25: 31-40 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,f you did it to me.’ Hi,
This is my first blog. I am starting to blog about a community service project. During this project I will be talking about how I am contributing to the Community and what I am working on towards the lead up to the Final Project. As a part of the project I have to help out someone in need or help the community in a way everyone benefits. |
