I feel a feeling of happiness go through me as I walk away from the new garden we planted in the cemetery. It looks great. it smells like roses and lavender some of the people are thanking me. I feel proud that I helped the community. The team that I worked with all went out and had lunch. There's a news reporter taking photos of our work. I feel great that I know i did something productive. I love helping other people.
This story connects to social justice because the person was beaten and robbed left on the street . The priest and the levite (member of the Jewish tribe Levi usually Jewish church assistant) passed by and did nothing like most of us would but the samaritan helped him. Although never stated in that story the robbed man was a Jew. Jews and Samaritans hate each other so the fact that he did help him was a big surprise. The Samaritan helped the Jew took him to a inn and payed for it. He was helping someone less fortunate than him even though there people hate each other. That's why it relates to social justice.
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” 27 He answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 28“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denariie and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ 36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” 37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
This relates to social justice because the apostles asked Jesus if the crowd could go somewhere else to find food. But Jesus said “You give them something to eat”. the apostles replied “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd”. But Jesus told them to sit them in groups of fifty and feed them. Not only was it incredible he was able to feed 5 thousand with barely anything but he shared what little he had any way.
When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.” He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
I was checking Youtube for videos about our inquiry. I found this video and I really hope you enjoy it. It is about 3 students playing music for this person to earn money for a homeless person. It is as if they saw Jesus in him too. I just posted a bible story, now this is why it relates to our inquiry.
In the verse Jesus separates all the nations, some to his left some to his right. He tells the people on the his right. "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." The people on the left asked "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?" Then Jesus told them "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." I think that means that if you help someone, as the people on the right did you help Jesus. This can relate to our inquiry because we will be helping people in our community, so we will be helping Jesus. Angus How does the following passage relate to your actions of community service.
Matthew 25: 31-40 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,f you did it to me.’ Hey Guys,
