Hi everyone, As part of our homework for the week we had to create a piece of writing that relates to social justice (our inquiry topic) and then post it onto Weebly. I have written a newpaper article based on the homeless which has been published on Microsoft word. I have attached the document to this page. I hope you enjoy and hopefully take some information from my piece of writing.

All Their rights left behind
Left in trash, left in a stash.
Approximately 4,000 people in Melbourne are homeless, 36% of them are the young adults. 10% are under the age of 12 and 23% are families. These devastating numbers reflect the People that become homeless for a variety of reasons. Usually the reasons are a result of out-going issues such as poverty, family violence, leaving school early, mental illness or drug/ alcohol addiction. One of the big issues is when teenagers/ young adults leave school too early. It affects the job they want when they’re older or even just getting a job. These unthoughtful decisions result in young adults are being left with simply no choice but to live on the side of the streets unable to buy food, shelter or clothing. These young adults are left poor because they did not receive the right education needed for a job that would provide these lifestyle requirements. So for the rest of their life they have it tough.
What can we do to help?
Well a lot of little things can help, even the smallest things, like treating them with respect (says the homelessessaustralia.org.au). We must treat the homeless with the same respect and courtesy we treat our families and friends with. Another thing we all could do is donate. You can donate lots of things like money, toys, clothing and even food. These things may be little to us but they makes a big difference to the homeless.

about it and make a small difference.”

A Prayer for the homeless
God of compassion,
Your love for humanity was revealed in jesus,
Whose earthly life began in the poverty of a stable
And ended in the pain and isolation of the cross:
We hold before you those who are homeless and cold
specially in this bitter weather.
Draw near and comfort them in spirit
And bless those who work to provide them
With shelter, food and friendship.
We ask this in jesus' name.
Amen.
