my response
Many people say I am going to do this, this and this and than start feeling proud of themselves when they say what they want to do, but the people who do something and are the ones who actually do service.

“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” ― Martin Luther King Jr MY RESPONSEI think the speech that Martin Luther King Jr made means that anyone can do service they don't permission or a certificate to do service all they have to have is a time giving heart.
Today our teacher challenged us to write exactly a 50 word story that relates to our inquiry unit social justice it was difficult task but I finally got through it. Hope you enjoy it MORNIG TEA Faces had smiles as students passed around mouth changing morning tea to parishioners who attended mass. My heart quickened as I approached an elderly parishioner to talk about his day. All students had done a tremendous job and every parishioner left with a smile and I was happy.
By Ryan On September the 10th me and another 5 students went to riddles gardens age care. We went there because it was part of our inquiry unit community service and social justice. When I entered the age care facility I was sort of nervous questions ran through my head like how am I going to introduce my self, who am I going to talk too and what the people in the facility might be like.
When I walked into the facility all of us student entered the activity room most of the people in the room were asleep and some were awake. The first lady I met told me a lot about her past sometimes she had trouble remembering her past and she would just sit still for a few minutes trying to remember. The second lady I met was really nice she didn't answer most of the questions I expected she said yes and no or she said I like everything . About every 5 minutes she looked at me as she had never seen me before. My trip to riddles gardens aged facility made me realise to enjoy life and to realise how lucky you are. Passage 2: Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand 10When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. 12Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.” 13He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14(About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. My response to the verseThe disciples in this verse only thought about themselves they said to Jesus to send the crowd away and make them get there food but Jesus only told them to gather up the crowd and fifties then he blessed the bread and the fish and gave them to the whole crowd
Jesus didn't think about himself but about the crowd. Passage 4: The Widow’s Offering 41Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. 43Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” My response to the bible verseI think the verse means that the widow gave everything she had but the other people did not give everything they had, and what I think surprised Jesus more was that she gave all her money that she had to live on but others gave only a bit of there money.
I think this relates to our social Justice unit because what I think this verse is trying to say is to give everything you have. On the 3rd of September I and a group of other students went to the Parish Mass. I went there not only to participate in the mass but to give the parishioners some morning tea after mass . While we were giving them morning tea we were also asked to talk to them about anything that interests us. I talked to a man who had come from Malta. He had been involved in the parish from the year 2000. It was fun to see everyone around having fun.
I think it was a great experience to talk to people who were older than us and to give them something before their day started. |
